Origin Story

Our founder, Tom Percy, operated a background company in the late 1990s and early 2000s. During this time, he encountered significant challenges in determining whom to contact, when to reach out, and what information was necessary to verify education credentials. Recognizing that many others faced similar difficulties, the concept for AuraData was born.

Tom was motivated by the impending job searches of his two daughters and the increasing prevalence of fraud in educational verification processes, which often involved lengthy delays. With a vision to enhance efficiency through automation, Tom began collaborating with Canadian institutions. He pledged outstanding customer service, rapid turnaround times, and a commitment to innovation in partnership.

Today, AuraData proudly remains a wholly Canadian company, placing utmost importance on morals, values, and ethics, and delivering friendly, impactful service.

Timeline

  • 2004 Incorporation and the initial AuraData build
  • 2007 AuraData was finally launched and AuraData’s first two automated schools signed up
  • 2018 A change in leadership, Caitlyn Mackrell joined the team and started working on process improvements and changes.
  • 2020 COVID began in Canada changing the job markets, processes and general outlook
  • 2021 Spurred on by the COVID outbreak and a change in processes, AuraData enabled API integration & an e-consent feature was introduced to reduce the need of a printer/scanner for consent. Work began on building the new AuraData system utilizing Waterloo co-op students!
  • 2024 January 5th, the new system went live bringing about exciting features such as multi-user platforms, dispute capabilities and a beautiful user friendly interface.
