March 17, 2008 - User Tip. SSN -SIN don’t work.
Using a US SSN (Social Security Number) or Canadian SIN (Social Insurance Number) does not work on AuraData as a Student Number.
Unlike in the US where many student numbers are the same as the SSN this is not the case in Canada. In Canada the SIN is only used for Federal Tax tracking and it is against the law to use these numbers to track any personal information.
By entering either the SSN or SIN as a student number your search will have a high likely hood of turning into a manual search thereby delaying the response time.
Student Numbers in Canada are unique numbers assigned to each student by the institute. Asking your search subjects for a student number is a very good idea and using them on AuraData increases the speed and accuracy of your search.
If there is no student number available AuraData searches by the name used at the institute and the date of birth. Please ensure both are accurate.

Be specific and accurate when entering your search data. The name must be entered as it was used while attending the Institute. Be careful that you have the full name and not a shortened or changed version i.e. Bill, Billy, William or Tom, Thomas. Another common issue is the use of switching middle names for first names.
Also, don’t forget to enter a Maiden name or other name.
Users have been entering incorrect dates of birth, i.e. 10/08/1981 as October 8, 1981 when it was actually August 10, 1981. AuraData uses YEAR/MONTH/DAY in drop down fields to avoid this confusion.
Student numbers are extremely helpful.
Avoid “no file found” by ensuring your data is entered accurately.
